When we were wee tykes clutching to our safety blankets and stuffed toys à la Linus, no doubt some harassed adult had fed us some blood-curdling tale of the boogieman to get us behaving and out of their hair. Dollars to donuts, this had the unwanted effect of causing many aggravated sleepless nights wherein the luckless kid who got an earful of this story mixed it with an overactive imagination only to resist bedtime, anticipating in great detail the gaping maw of imagined evil lurking beneath their bed. Thankfully, those times are over for many of us and the days of the all mighty night light are long gone. If we were to encounter any monsters underneath the bed now, we’d likely embrace this chance to take a stab at adventure and relish the stories we’d get out of them to sell for movie rights. One thing great about getting older—having the cojones to disprove fears and assign them new meaning. Monsters, they aren’t what they used to be.
This October 22nd, get your heart pumping from something besides fear of the boogieman! Instead, boogie down to a night of thumping beats and bass at the Play Me Records and Beatport’s Bass Monster Tour 2011 (brought to you by Bass Face Productions and Decibel Productions) at The Arts Garage where the dubstep will be dirty and the night, ultra- heavy. Leading the night to the march of her grimey beat is dance floor demon Reid Speed, with the talents of Brooklyn’s own FS and LA’s Cyberoptics, Dubfelon, Dirty Dave, S-Factor, MF Parm & Euniq DJ, DJ Treachery, DJ Deviate, and Trixx rounding out the evening. This is one monster that shouldn’t hide itself under the bed so hook yourself up with some tickets and head on over to The Arts Garage for a savage night of dancing.
